COCKTAILS AND TAILGATING

Posted by HG on May 31, 2007

Alcohol.. It’s like steroids for hecklers and there’s no better place for fans to juice up than right in the parking lot. A lot of food, plenty of drank, and a video camera are all that you need for a successful tailgate.

Jacksonville Jaguars fans like to kickoff the festivities with some beverages, a fire, and two chicks wrestling a dude.

People drink in Philly? Which is more of a dead giveaway that this video is early in the season: one guy screaming that the Phils will dominate the NL East or the dude being excited about Brett Myers?

Penn State alumni having a good time. Keep this up and we’ll be seeing the likes of Blair Thomas and Mike McQueary cleaning up outside the stadium.

THE U.S. GOVERNMENT WASTING MONEY ON NASCAR

Posted by HG on May 22, 2007

The U.S. government is notorious for overspending for items such as hammers and toliet seats. While our troops don’t have the proper equipment to fight a war, and cities such as New Orleans and Greensburg, Kansas struggle to receive federal assisstance after natural disasters, Uncle Sam has found a good way to spend 100 million dollars a year… NASCAR.

The Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines National Guard all sponsor teams in either the Nextel Cup or Busch Series. Drivers Casey Mears (National Guard), Mark Martin/Regan Smith (Army) and Ken Schrader (Air Force) all race military sponsored cars in the Nextel Cup. Shane Huffman (Navy) races in the Busch Series. No big deal right? Wrong when you consider that the cost of a primary team sponsorhip is getting close to $30mil per year if you believe this article, or close to $20mil per year if you go with this story.

Either way, the United States government shouldn’t be handing out $50-$100mil a year to support Nascar teams. NASCAR gets a ton of eyes focused on it’s products, at the track and on tv, but the declining enlistment rates do more to discourage rather than justify the huge bill being footed by the Gov’t.

THIS BIRD’S FOR YOU

Posted by HG on April 30, 2007

I don’t know shit about Nascar. I’m not saying I hate Nascar. I can’t. I don’t follow it. I can repeat some phrases I hear.. restrictor plates, drafting, and Daytona.. I can even name a few drivers, but I only know one thing about the sport. Nascar fans hate Jeff Gordon.

I’m not sure what Gordon did to get on everybody’s bad side, but he loses even when he wins. Try to honor Dale Earnhardt, Jeff’s an asshole. Win a race, they’re throwing crap at his car. Nascar fans are lucky Ron Artest wasn’t riding shotgun.
