I know it’s tired and played out, but I enjoy telling people that I randomly meet online when I play Everquest or World of Warcraft my friends when they’ve been Felix Hernandez’d. It’s a phrase that me and some college buddies came up with years ago. It refers to when you plan something really big. You know it’s gonna be a special day or special event, but..out of nowhere, somebody shows up and steals your shine. For example..Have you ever bought a new car? I mean brand spanking new. Straight off the lot. A hot whip. You’re feeling real good about your ride…Cruising through the streets, bending corners real slow.. Just high sidin’, hoping that everybody sees you. You get home feelin’ like a million bucks… Until your neighbor pulls up in a year old benz that he just copped for 8 grand at an auction. Damn… I just got Felix Hernandez’d.
Daisuke Matsuzaka got Felix Hernandez’d in his first start at Boston’s Fenway Park. It was supposed to be a celebration, Daisuke was awesome in his first outting. It was gonna be a reunion of sorts, Ichiro facing Matsuzaka. It was expected to be a victory, Seattle is still trying to get into the flow of the season. Dice K wasn’t terrible, 7 innings, 8 hits, 3 runs, 4k’s and a walk, but Seattle’s 21 year old starter Felix Hernandez was terrific. F-Her pitched a complete game one hitter with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks. He dominated his opposition for the second time this season, and has allowed zero runs in his first two starts. Something tells me this kid’s a keeper.
